Buddy Sour Horses and Ungodly Cording

Buddy Sour Horses and Ungodly Cording

I have been running across this a lot lately. So many clients have had ungodly cords. I have been breaking cords off of me and I have seen so many people in my life with strong cords connecting them to other people in their lives. Then, as I was scrolling fb yesterday, I watched a post from a horsewoman explaining how she had to separate 2 of her horses because they were “Buddy Sour”. Meaning, they couldn’t do anything without the other horse being present.

Humans do this too, but we don’t call it being Buddy Sour. We call it “Family”. Or “Girlfriend/Boyfriend”. We tell ourselves it’s a healthy relationship.

It’s not, and here is why.

They are inherently negative connections. They draw people down into lower-frequency relationships. Think of codependent or sometimes abusive relationships. Those negative connections cause those affected to be overwhelmingly vulnerable to the negative energies in the relationship.

Cords are almost always caused with good intentions and are formed subconsciously. People don’t intend to cord with other people, in general. However, some are raised to have unhealthy attachments to others in their lives.

This is connected to an inability to have healthy boundaries in the relationship. There is no disconnect. No healthy separation of self.

My Buddy Sour Horse Stories

Years ago, when I had horses in my teen years, they were Buddy Sour. Badly. I had a little Shetland pony I would ride sometimes, yes, I was probably too big for him then, but he carried me well enough. Enough to run full out from the far corner of our property into the barn door, where he would stop dead. Yep. Then,  I would be thrown right into the door. He would take any bit I put him in, in his teeth, set his neck forward so I couldn’t get him to turn in any way, and take off running at full gallop. Surprisingly fast for such a little horse.

One time, I took my 28-year-old former barrel horse out for a ride. What could he do right?? Let me tell you what he could do. That old Buddy Sour horse as we just started our ride down the side of the road, a gentle trot, decided, without telling me, that he was gonna go back home. We may have even been running a little bit. He turned on a dime, and I flipped off the saddle and somehow landed on my feet, still holding the reins. It happened so fast!

I still love horses!!

Those horses could not go anywhere unless I took someone else with me. If I had taken the Shetland pony with me, the barrel horse would have gone anywhere. If I had the barrel horse with me, the Shetland pony would have gone anywhere. He would have been naughty, but he would have gone anywhere.

Like a Buddy Sour horse, negative connections hold people back. They don’t have the freedom to have positive, healthy, energetic connections—a free, back-and-forth of positive energy.

Healthy connections allow for

  • Healthy growth and maturing.
  • Freedom of expression
  • Emotionally healthy relationships
  • Healthy personal boundaries

These negative connections are formed in various ways.

Trauma.

Toxic People.

Sexual Sin.

Unhealthy Vows.

Do you have cords with the people in your life? Here are the signs:

  1. You obsess over the other person.
  2. Intense feelings of jealousy for that person.
  3. Your relationship with that other person could be defined as a codependent relationship.
  4. You have difficulty defining your personal boundaries apart from that person.
  5. You remain stuck in repeating cycles of guilt, anger or destructive habits.
  6. You struggle doing things on your own, separate from another person in your life.

All cords should be cut.

When I have seen them, in the eye of my imagination, I see them in many different places on the body, and they look different for everyone. Some cords are THICK and take up most of the torso of the person. Others are nothing more than a wire connecting one person to another. Forgiveness and clearing out the reasons why they are there are some of the steps I take in cutting cords for my clients. We forgive and release the person they are connected to, and then find any other imbalances that are holding those cords in place. Sometimes it takes several layers to get the cords completely broken.

Once a person is free from the ungodly connections, they find that healthy relationships are enjoyable and free. Learning what healthy boundaries in relationships are is key in keeping the cords from connecting again. I personally direct people to Dr. Henry Cloud’s website for information on creating healthy relationships in your life. He has tons of resources and books available.

If you are struggling in some areas of your life, it may be that you have some ungodly cords in your life. Maybe you recognize some of the signs and want to be free to be who you were created to be. Schedule a first session meeting with me, and let’s talk about it.
