Creative Insecurity. Mud Month. Grounding.

Creative Insecurity. Mud Month. Grounding.

Creative insecurity. Mud Month and Grounding??

All in one post?

Really??

Yes.

Here’s why:

Grounding yourself to the earth is therapeutic.

Mud Month encourages grounding. Mud is all over right now, in my area anyways. (I call March Mud Month. I realize that April and May, because I’m in the garden a whole lot more, is much muddier. April and May have their own words.) In the Midwest, winter is winding down and spring is not quite here. Mud is on my truck, dogs, floors, kids, furniture. My goats and mule are full of mud. (Well, muck, but we won’t differentiate right now….)

Grounding

Grounding has to do with connecting to the earth to bring us back into positive energy. When we connect with the earth, the areas in us that are out of balance, like mood, energy, immune system, it literally brings us back into order. According to healthline.com : “Grounding, also called earthing, is a therapeutic technique that involves doing activities that “ground” or electrically reconnect you to the earth.”

Creative Insecurity

Creative Insecurity has to do with the creative process. I am not limiting this to the creatives out there. I am talking to everyone. We are ALL creative in one way or another.

The definition of Creative Insecurity according to Discover Healing: “Feeling unsafe or untrusting the self about the creation or development of anything, including relationships, family, health, money, career and/or artistic endeavors. A feeling of insecurity that arises and blocks the creative process.”

You see, Creative Insecurity affects us all in one way or another. We may be incredibly creative when it comes to one area, but in another be totally blocked. When we don’t feel safe, creativity can be blocked. Note that includes much more than just art!

Interesting isn’t that??

When I first read about creative insecurity, I certainly did not think of being creative outside of arts and crafts. But, as I am digging more into it lately, I am realizing that none of us is NOT creative!

God is a creative God. We are created in God’s image so we are also creative beings.

God is a creative God.

Creativity and Grounding

One of the ways that I tend to be creative is outside in my gardens and yard. I have a “shoe tree”. Why you ask? Because its funny and makes people tilt their head..

The story is that I have kids who get attached to their shoes. One kid I had to throw his too small, worn out shoes into a campfire to get him to wear the new shoes he had picked out. Another kid liked his shoes so much that he wore them until someone figured out that he needed shoes 3 sizes larger than the ones he had been wearing to soccer. Another kid would not quit wearing a pair of shoes I had moved down to a sibling. So I nailed them to a tree in our yard.

There are more shoes on it now, but this is my funny shoe tree.

And that is how I started nailing shoes to trees.

I like to dig in my garden and plant seeds and plants. Getting my hands in the dirt has always been therapeutic for me. Weirdly enough pulling weeds is part of my therapy! There are times when I just need some weed pulling!!

I never realized just how needed it was though.

Get Grounded for YOU

Studies have shown the benefits of grounding and they are significant!  Grounding improves heart rates, boosts immune systems, improves sleep, improves our mood and brings our energy field back to positive. Studies have also shown that grounding can decrease chronic pain and inflammation!

Years ago, I just knew that I felt better after spending time in the dirt. Now I understand that there is a reason why I feel better after spending time in the dirt!

Creative Insecurity Mud Month Grounding

When we take time to get grounded again, it recharges us and helps us to be more creative. We are able to access those ideas that have been stuck behind blocks and barriers. Getting in touch with nature really does help us.

I know that in my area, its that time of year where today might be frozen but tomorrow is thawed. In fact, it really is that way today and tomorrow! But soon, we will have more thawed than frozen. And I look forward to that day! In the meantime, I will spend some time doing some other things that help me to be grounded.

Struggling with Creative Insecurity and Grounding? Message me today. Let’s talk. My first session is always free so you can experience Emotion Code for yourself with no obligation.

Next time, I will write about those things that will help ground us while we wait for thawing to happen!!

Blessings,

Vicki
