The Gardens of Our Minds
Its spring- finally- so I’m in the gardens again. As I thought about what to write today, I thought about the gardens and some of the lessons we can learn from them. Like how our minds can be like the gardens.
Its time to plant again and I have seedlings to get in and seeds to plant. My goal is to have some good harvests!! The last couple of years, my harvests have been sort of pathetic.
Ok- totally pathetic. I put in so much effort and am rewarded with a meal of home grown produce once in a great while.
Lame.
This year, I did some simple tests of my soil and found that my nutrients are severely lacking- which I guessed was a big part of the problem. My PH wasn’t all that great either. So I added some good composted manure from my animals. I piled on some purchased dirt and added some milorganite, another kind of fertilizer made from human waste.
The plants that are coming up are looking healthier already.
The big test will be with the seeds that I planted this week in the 3 raised beds in the front yard and the garden in the back yard.
Fingers crossed…. Prayers sent up..
As I was thinking about what to write about this week, I thought about the gardens and how it can be used for so many lessons..
Like the mind and emotions.. like communication and so much more. So lets use it for our minds and emotions.. how we think..
I had to improve my soils. I had to add some things in to my soils to make it produce good fruit.
How do we do that in our minds??
Think about how we think. Is your thinking clouded? How about brain fog? Or do you find yourself struggling with negative thoughts? What about those negative emotions and angry explosions?
Most of our problems are literally in our minds. We need to make sure what we are thinking on is good. First- remove those “weeds”- things that cause our thinking to be problematic. For me, something that caused a lot of thinking issues was wheat. I love bread and cookies! But- wheat caused my mind serious problems. I removed wheat from my diet and my thinking is much clearer and less negative!
Honestly, I was shocked by that!! But it helped.
Another thing I found I was allergic to was bird feathers. I have slept with a feather pillow for most of my life or had a feather blanket on my bed. Then I had chickens, turkeys and ducks. All of those things added to my problems in my head. In my natural health journey, it was discovered that the allergens showed up in my brain. My muscles, skeleton and brain.
Odd I know.
Anyways, removing those things from my life have helped remove those toxic thoughts or “weeds”.
I add good fertilizer now to my brain to build it back up and help me think clearer and healthier via supplements and good healthy food. I’m generally a healthy whole food eater and cook most of our meals from scratch. Of course, I’m not perfect and there are times we go out to eat more often than we should or eat prepackaged foods. But I don’t beat myself up about it. I just go back to eating healthy when I can.
Another important thing I do is consider what I am putting into my mind. Daily I take time to pray and read the Word of God. I center myself on Him and remember whose I am.
All of these things contribute to having a healthy mind and thought life. We want the garden of our minds to be producing good fruit, right??
Plant good seed into good soil and you should reap good fruit.
What happens when good fruit isn’t what you get? We will talk more about that soon!!
Blessings.
