Creating Crafted Prayers: Psalm 91

I have been creating my own crafted prayers for years now. Psalm 91 is one of my favorites. It’s one of the most commonly used Psalms. I find it to be incredibly powerful and effective. Creating your own crafted prayers sounds more difficult than it is. But we have a powerful book full of prayers that we can use! Every situation is covered in the Word of God.
Fearful? That’s covered.
Struggling with prodigal children? Covered.
Financial issues? Family issues? Identity issues? Spiritual issues?
All covered.
All we need to do is ask God for the scriptures that pertain to our particular issue. Not sure what to ask?? Search the scripture for your particular issue. Pick some that seem to speak to your heart. Then, make it your own!!
If you are struggling with that, Google it. Or there are several books and resources we can use to pray the prayers others have already done. Personally, I have a collection of books and prayers I have used.
I will put a list of resources at the end of this post.
Praying the Word of God:
Barbera Billet says this in her book “Praying with Fire”,

“In order to have fervent prayer, which means boiling hot prayer, we need fire! Jeremiah refers to the Word of God as being a “Fire in his bones”. Hebrews 12:29 refers to God as the “Consuming Fire”. John 1:1 states that “the Word is God”. The word of God then, is the fire that has the ability to change and transform things by the power of the Holy Spirit.’
She goes on to say:
“I am emphasizing the “Fire” of the Word of God in this book! The Word of God is our number one weapon against the enemies of our lives!… Therefore, when we wield the sword of the spirit, we are speaking or confessing the Word of God that applies to the situation about which we are praying.”
Hebrews 4:12 says:
“For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to [a]judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
The Word of God is powerful!
Creating a Power Prayer:
Crafting a prayer for your family first begins with a relationship. If you don’t know how to talk to God, start with what Graham Cooke outlines here:
“Begin with thanksgiving and worship. Come into stillness. Rest and enjoy His presence, whether He’s present to your faith or your feelings. Rejoice that He promised to always be present and He lives in you. Clarify and simplify your focus for your prayer.”
Get quiet. Rest. Enjoy His sweet presence.

Understand He is with you ALWAYS so you may or may not feel his presence. And just listen. There will be thoughts coming to your mind.
Sometimes things you need to do later in the day. Write them down on so they get out of your brain.
Then, as you sit quietly and just focus in on God, let the words or scriptures pop into your head. Write those down. During this time, just allow the words to come.
When it gets quiet, look up the scriptures that go along with the words you received. Write those down.

Then gather all of the information you have received, and, again, pray and focus on the Lord. Get the Love in your heart and craft your prayer. Let it take the time you need to make it a prayer coming from a place of Love and gratitude.
Sometimes, these prayers take a few days to craft well. Let it take the time it needs. You want a personal prayer for your personal situation.
Power Examples:
Let’s start with a quick and powerful, warfare prayer for the you from Isaiah:
Isaiah 54:17 (Amplified)
“No weapon that is formed against you will succeed;
And every tongue that rises against you in judgment you will condemn.
This [peace, righteousness, security, and triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And this is their vindication from Me,” says the Lord.
We take this verse and we make it our own by inserting our names or our family into these lines.
“No weapon formed against Vicki Reinke will succeed.
Every tongue that rises up against me in judgment, will be condemned.
This peace, righteousness, security, and triumph over the opposition is MY HERITAGE, and this is MY VINDICATION from ME,” says the Lord.”
We can pray this as often as we need to in times of trials.
The Word of God is our Sword. Tell the Devil to get away from your promises!
Power Prayer: Psalm 91

I am going to show you how to do this simply, by using Psalm 91 as a framework. We all have heard how this psalm is used for protection. To use it like a Sword for the protection of our family we personalize it to our needs.
Psalm 91
1 The one who lives under the protection of the Most High
dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say[a] to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 He Himself will deliver you from the hunter’s net,
from the destructive plague.
4 He will cover you with His feathers;
you will take refuge under His wings.
His faithfulness will be a protective shield.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
the arrow that flies by day,
6 the plague that stalks in darkness,
or the pestilence that ravages at noon.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side
and ten thousand at your right hand,
the pestilence will not reach you.
8 You will only see it with your eyes
and witness the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord—my refuge,
the Most High—your dwelling place,
10 no harm will come to you;
no plague will come near your tent.
11 For He will give His angels orders concerning you,
to protect you in all your ways.
12 They will support you with their hands
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the young lion and the serpent.
14 Because he is lovingly devoted to Me,
I will deliver him;
I will protect him because he knows My name.
15 When he calls out to Me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble.
I will rescue him and give him honor.
16 I will satisfy him with a long life
and show him My salvation.
To make it our own prayer of fire, we can pray something like this:
My family lives in the shelter of the Most High. We live in the shadow of the Almighty.
I say to the Lord, You are our refuge and fortress, we trust in You.
You Lord, rescue us from the trapper and the plague.
You Lord, cover my family with Your feathers,
And under Your wings my family takes refugeYour faithfulness is a shield and wall around us.
MY FAMILY DOES NOT HAVE TO FEAR ANYTHING. PEOPLE MAY FALL ALL AROUND US, BUT IT SHALL NOT TOUCH US. MY FAMILY WILL SEE IT, AND SEE JUSTICE COME.
My family has made the Lord our refuge, God is our dwelling place.
This family does not have to fear evil, disease, or anything else. Because You Lord have given His angels orders and they protect us in all our ways. These angels lift us up so we don’t strike our foot against a stone.
This family walks in our full authority. We trample the lion and the serpent.
Because our family loves Jesus, He saves us and sets us securely on high.
I call upon the name of Jesus on behalf of my family and He answers me. He is with us in trouble. He rescues us and honors us.
God satisfies my family with a long life and show us His salvation.
Amen.
We are inserting our name into the places that it works. Like replacing the pronouns. For example:
9 Because you have made the Lord—my refuge,
the Most High—your dwelling place,
10 no harm will come to you;
no plague will come near your tent.
We reword it to personalize it like this:
Because I have made the Lord MY refuge. The Most High MY dwelling place, no harm will come to Vicki Reinke. No plague will come near the Reinke home.
Psalm 91 is only one of many Psalms and Scriptures that can be utilized in this way. Find the scriptures that the Lord is impressing upon your heart for your situation. And make them your own.
