Spiritual Healing: Sometimes we need deep spiritual work. Not just a manicure or pedicure.

How many of us are dealing with some consistent issue??
Addiction. Chronic pain or fatigue. Mental health issue. Digestive issues. Thought patterns. Maybe you see patterns in your family line of some of these things and more.
Going for another manicure or pedicure, sauna, or massage only seems to mask the issue for a time. Self-care, while important to our well-being, isn’t going to rectify these sorts of issues.

Inner soul work is what is needed.
We, as I have talked about in many of my posts already, are made up of Body, Soul, and Spirit. And, I have found as have others, the Heart is its own entity as well. Each of these parts can have its own imbalances and issues. All of them can appear somewhere in our make up.
Chronic pain can have its roots in the Soul. Something happened, maybe not even traumatic, just consistent, that caused parts of the Soul to hold on to emotions, lies, allergies, or beliefs.
For me, digestive issues have been based on stuffing emotions down deep into the core of my being. (the gut/sacral chakra area) A habit I had begun as a young child. I would erupt into huge, ugly, angry outbursts at times because, truth be told, you can only stuff so much before it all comes out. As an adult, I dealt with a very finicky digestive system, GERD, constipation alternating with diarrhea, and Gastritis.
Over the years, I have experienced almost every kind of Christian Spiritual healing there was. Every one of them undoing years of poor choices. I am so thankful that I was plopped into a church community, soon after I became a Believer in Jesus, that had learned about that and were actively assisting people to get set free. I worked in this realm for many years and I saw people be set free, healed, and experience freedom from their own issues.
Mine, however, persisted. Because I didn’t deal with the “Why” of my issues.
What is Spiritual Healing?
The Cambridge Dictionary Online defines Spiritual healing like this:
“The activity of making a personhealthy without using medicines or other physicalmethods, sometimes as part of a religiousceremony“
On Biblehub.com, I found this definition:
“Spiritual healing refers to the process of restoring an individual’s spiritual well-being through divine intervention, prayer, and faith. It encompasses the healing of the soul, mind, and sometimes the body, as facilitated by the Holy Spirit. This concept is deeply rooted in the Christian faith, where believers seek God’s power to heal and restore.”
The tools I used consistently were prayer and Biblical declarations. I create prayers (you can read about that here) and pray them over myself and my family. I pray for my family all the time.
But in the wider context, spiritual healing encompasses so much more than prayers.
The Discover Healing website has this list of methods of spiritual healing:
- Meditation
- Divine sounds
- Chanting
- Reiki
- Prayer
- Qigong
- Chakra Healing
- The Emotion Code
- The Body Code

I am adding Belief Code to this list. (Apparently, Belief Code wasn’t created when this article was written.)
And there are so many more methods, as I discovered when I attended a Spiritual Healing convention this spring. I am in no way condoning other methods of spiritual healing that do not include the presence of God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. It is my understanding from my years of work that those methods, while seeming to work temporarily, often cause more harm than good.
I don’t want to ruffle feathers or even imply that my way is the only way.
My way is only one way of accessing the One True God.
And if you are not accessing the One True God, you run the risk of inviting other problems into your life.
Spiritual Healing as Whole Body healing:
Spiritual Healing can improve our lives in so many ways.
Again, from the Discover Healing website:
“The whole-body approach of spiritual healing lends itself to a more complete recovery and better physical and mental health. While modern medicine should be considered and used, especially in serious health situations, spiritual healing can be non-invasive and eliminate the need for pharmaceuticals.

When we utilize methods of Spiritual Healing, it incorporates the entire Body, Soul, Spirit, and Heart into the healing. Creating pathways for ongoing healing. Modern medicine is awesome in so many ways, however, they tend to focus on single parts of the physical body. Eliminating the connections it has to the rest of the body. They don’t even attempt to accept the Soul, Heart, or Spirit into the equation.
They are missing an important part of wholeness.
When we choose a whole body approach to healing, we may:
- take allopathic medicines to help relieve symptoms
- take supplements for symptom relief
- choose regular times of meditation/Bible reading,
- choose to forgive those who have harmed us in the past,
- include weekly or bi-weekly Body Code sessions.
We have many options to access healing for our bodies.
The use of self-care in our whole body healing:
Self-care is an important part of supporting our whole body, true.
Things we can do as part of self-care, other than a nice manicure or pedicure, include but are not limited to:
- Grounding- getting out into nature and touching grass with bare feet. Spending time near running water. Immersing yourself in trees and plants.
- Regular times of quiet reflection/meditation. I recommend this, but I want to be clear. I mean meditating on scripture or positive affirmations.
- Setting clear, enforceable boundaries. Decide on what you will and will not accept in your life. Choose to discipline yourself to keep those healthier boundaries. (For information about boundaries, check out my blogs. Or find books by Dr. Henry Cloud.)
- A good, hot bath. I like to add in essential oils and Epsom salts for a spa-like experience. Lavender, joy, vanilla, or stress away are all excellent choices.
- Let’s not forget a splurge of an afternoon at a spa. OOOO…. SO WORTH IT!!
Healing is a journey, not a one-time fix
As much as I would love to say, healing is a one-and-done sort of thing, its just not. Especially after so many years of poor choices by ourselves and our family members, healing takes time.
Yes, God has healed me sovereignly, in a powerful encounter.
But my deeper healing has taken years. Incorporating Body Code into my healing over these last 5 years has been a game-changer for me.
I am no longer the person I was in my teens and twenties. Praise God.

A few years ago, I ran into my former boss and her Mom, who also worked with us. Her Mom said to me, “You were a real bitch back then.”
I was.
I am not that person anymore. Thank you, Lord.
True, lasting healing takes time and diligence.
I am here for you!
